There Is No Key To Happiness!
by abiather inreligions make it appear that there is a key to happiness and give the impression that they have the key, and enjoy people always look to them for happiness!.
interestingly, jesus meant there is no key to happiness, but it is the very nature of all human beings.
(luke 17:21) people like jws did not even translate this verse properly.

What is a Blessing?
by Suspicious inbeing a born in, this question got me thinking.
what really is a blessing?
i read so much and hear so much about it in the kingdom halls.

I think a blessing is something good that happens to you through no effort of your own. Born in a country where everyone has enough to eat? That's a blessing. Have a great family? Blessing.
I think blessings are also good things we should appreciate such as children, good friends and happiness.

Tech49 has the CO over for lunch
by Tech49 inso awhile back, during our last circuit overseer visit, vic and i decided to bite the bullet.... there seemed to be very little support for the mid-week lunch plans for the co and his wife, so we signed up to host.
we definitely didnt want it to be awkward, so we invited a few others along, as a nice little group affair.
they were excited, and offered to do the cooking, so i said i would play along.. just some background.... this particular co is kind of a tool (big surprise right?

As far as I know, COs all drop dead in their mid 60's so he won't be mooching off the 'SSI'. Here in Australia they give you the pension at 67 and it's barely even enough to pay rent. Often the oldies get funneled into nursing homes that take their pension in exchange for board and some care. It's better if you have superannuation though.
But really, what a moocher! These pampered COs who have never done a day's work and are princes of the circuit have no idea just how much things cost. I told a CO we pay $370 a week rent and he nearly fell off the chair. Anyone who saw our house would think we pay more. It's cheap for where we live, but COs have no clue because someone else always pays for them.

Yeah sometimes life just seems to go from one sucky thing to another. We are all entitled to our own little pity party from time to time I reckon, as long as we don't get too bogged down by our own misfortunes.

If You Got a Call or Visit From The Elders How Would You Deal With Them?
by minimus injust curious..

Apostasy, atheism, inactivity: everything's a step down to them. They have all the answers and we're blinded by Satan or caught up in "the world".
So glad I'm moving next month. Jws won't find me.

Same way I always do: small talk, how are things for you, my life is great but you caught me in the middle of something so can't chat. I'm a slippery fish when it comes to their sly questions: I have years of experience in evading questions I don't want to answer. Learned from the wtbts aww yeah. The most important thing I let them know is that my life has never been better!

Private meetings banned??
by franticfran ini have just spoken to a brother who is part of a group of single brothers and sisters who meet together once a week to discuss bible topics and he has been told by and elder that the organisation "banned" these private meetings years ago.
i told him i remember that article but he is adamant that the society would never do that (!
) now i am fairly sure i remember that article whether it was in a km or one of the mags i cant recall but i am sure i remember them saying we needed nothing more than the food that the slave class provided (another means to control us),does anyone have the details of that article because i have said i will find it and let him have it.

That's just pedantic. I always used to bring external examples and that into my answers and the jws appreciated it because it was a bit different and more relevant to the congregation. Some people are just big power trippers.
